WHAT IT'S LIKE TO BE MIXEDBY8i

IMG_E0304.JPG

There's many great engineers out there, some I look up to. But many of them are either too expensive and they usually charge based on how many tracks you can send or how many times you can make changes. Some of them even charge extra for things like editing and pitch correction. Really?!

That's not the case over here. I offer session based pricing*. Meaning you get a rate for one service: EVERYTHING YOUR SONG NEEDS. No limits, no extra fees, no bs. You are free to be as creative as you want.

I have a secret weapon that most engineers don't possess. I experience music. That means I am there with you expanding on your vision, even helping you bring out the best version of your final record, the one you can be proud of.

*A mix session means I charge by the song You will get a rate based on how many songs you request to be done. Whether it's one song or up to a full album

5 STEPS TO THE PERFECT MIX

| STEP 1

Zip and upload consolidated files OR zip and send Protools Session Folder via a large file transfer service like (in order of preference) WeTransfer, Dropbox, iCloud, etc. Do not send via Google Drive, it eats up your email space and sharing is not optimal sometimes. Be sure to include a rough draft mp3 or wav of your song.

STEP 2 |

I edit and manually pitch correct vocals (if needed) & mix your song(s), and provide you with  notes of suggested tweaks and adjustments if there are any. Don't be surprised if I say "Hey! add or redo these vocal takes!" Turnaround time is typically 2 days, but can take up to 15 days. I take time to make sure I am providing you the best quality mix.

| STEP 3

I send a link to your email with instructions to listen to what I finished. The link will be a personal profile for your song(s). The link allows you listen to a high quality version of each mix and make notes of needed corrections at the specific times. Take as much time as you need, listen on different speakers, and be as detailed as possible.

STEP 4 |

I review your notes and make necessary revisions. 0-3 revisions are common, but there is no limit. I mix until you are COMPLETELY satisfied. Also, you will have a chance to A/B listen to each revision and even choose a previous version if you feel the song is drifting from how you originally intended.

| STEP 5

When you approve the final mix, I will master and send all prints & passes (Full song, acapella, instrumental, and Performance track)

What About Your Gear?

I had two choices when I became an engineer: I could try to buy all of the best gear to do a mix, or I could focus on mixing great records. I chose the first option actually. But, I realized that I spent more time trying to find and save up for the best gear that I didn't have enough time to mix records. That and the fact that great gear adds a marginal difference compared to what you can do today with plugins, and you don't have to do maintenance and recall as you would with gear.

All of my mixes are 100% in the box, but I get as close to analog gear and environment as possible with premium preamp, console, bussing, tape, and space emulations. I have an exceptional amount of knowledge in what makes them mix like the gear you love. Today I choose to spend more time making you some great music.
